About Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy offers you the space to explore the difficulties you are having and the opportunity to begin to understand your distress. With compassion we can develop an awareness of the different parts of ourselves and our unconscious patterns of relating and being in the world. Often much of our suffering has its origins in past, early relationships. Ways of being that we adopted to survive these relationships can persist - even though they cause us pain. Within the safety of the therapeutic relationship, deep and meaningful change can occur and it may be possible for you to find new ways of being with yourself and others. Becoming more fully here.
'There is the mud, and there is the lotus that grows out of the mud. We need the mud in order to make the lotus' ~Thich Nhat Hanh
I am trained in Core Process Psychotherapy, a mindfulness-based approach that is a synthesis of Western psychodynamic theory and Eastern approaches to body-mind awareness. As a therapist I encourage you to become a witness to your present experience - body, mind and spirit. All of your experience is welcome in the therapy room: feelings, images, physical sensations and impulses. Mindfulness gives us the space to stand outside our habitual patterns of reactivity and witness what is. This allows us to find ways of being with our suffering that are less restrictive and punitive, and that help us to begin to integrate our experiences and feelings. In this way we can become more embodied and whole, and lead lives of greater ease and happiness.
